iPhone 6 4.7-Inch Model Tipped to sport 2100mAh Battery

Apple's long-rumoured 4.7-inch iPhone 6 model will come with a 2100mAh battery, claims an analyst citing supply chain sources across China.

Earlier leaks had indicated that the alleged 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will pack a bettery capacity between 1800mAh and 1900mAh. However, contadicting earlier claims, ESM-China electronics analyst Sung Chang Xu in a reporthas equip the alleged smaller iPhone 6 variant with a 2100mAh battery. Further, Xu claimed that previous images leaks indicating the battery size of the iPhone 6 had actually shown the test units of the handset.

Unfortunately, there is no new word on the battery capacity of the anticipated 5.5-inch iPhone 6 handset. Previous leaks had tipped a 2500mAh battery to power the larger 5.5-inch version of the iPhone 6, which is also rumoured to be called as iPhone Air.

If the purported battery capacity of the 4.7-inch model, if true , will bring Apple's next iPhone into the league of Android flagships, such as the Samsung Galaxy S5 (2800mAh)

Multiple reports on Tuesday suggested that Apple would unveil the iPhone 6 on September 9. iPhone 6 Tipped Along with prices to launch on September 19

Apple's next iPhone device, expected to be called the iphone 6, has once again been tipped to launch on September 19 - this time thanks to a leaked promotional flyer from China.

The leaked images of the alleged iPhone 6 flyer was picked up by GSM Insider from a Chinese user's Weibo account, showing the September 19 launch day alongside purported pricing of both the models.

According to the leaked flyer, the rumoured 4.7-inch -iPhone 6 will come at CNY 5,288 (roughly Rs. 51,000) , while the alleged 5.5-inch model will be available at CNY 6,288 (roughly Rs.61,000). If true , this would also imply the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 (32GB) is cheaper than the current 4-inch iphone 5s (16GB) - which costs CNY 5,300.

Recent reports, in-line with the current, had suggested the same CNY 5,288 pricing for Meanwhile , the purported promotional flyer corroborate what's has been widely expected based on earlier leaks, that the next iPhone will come with curved edges and will be a major departure from the company's current industrial design on existing iPhone models. However , it is yet to be seen whether Apple will do away with its current straight-edge design seen on iPhone 4, iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s.

Univision
 To stream games online using ESPN's website or app, viewers  need a cable or have TV subscription. It's not enough to have internet service through the cable provider.

But there is another way to watch for free-legally. Spanish-language channel Univision is streaming the first 56 World cup games for free on its website and Deporte app. The only drawback (for some) is that the commentary is in spanish.

Unfortunately, even the games on Univision will require a cable or satellite subscription once the quarterfinals begin on  july 4 .

Radio
ESPN Radio and Sirius XM are broadcasting all games over the radio. Simply find your local ESPN station, tune in at game and let the drama unfold. Sirius requires a satellite radio subscription.

This is handy if you are watching the game on Univision but want to hear English-language commentary, though Internet streams can run a minute or so behind the broadcast.

Apple has released a new version of its Apple TV beta software, and the new version adds in some new features, one of those is the iCloud Family sharing.

Apple announced iCloud Family Sharing back at WWDC, the feature will allow up to six people in the same family to share content from iTunes.

In the new iCloud Family Sharing you will be able to share purchased music, videos, apps, and iBooks without having to share accounts.

The new feature will also be useful for parents, as they will now be able to approve purchases by their kids on different devices, which should put an end to all those stories about kids spending lots on in app purchases on their parents accounts.

The new Apple TV beta has also added in support for iCloud Photos, which is a new feature in iOS 8 that will let you store all of your photos in iCloud.

As well as releasing the new software for the Apple TV, the company also released a new beta version of iOS 8 and also a new OS X Yosemite Developer Preview 2.

We are also expecting Apple to launch a new Apple TV device later this year, and we have been hearing rumors that the new device will come with gaming and apps, like the iPhone and iPad.

October plays major role for Apple's First Wearable Device

Apple is preparing to sell its first wearable device this October, aiming to produce 3 million to 5 million units a month in its initial run, the Nikkei reported on Friday, citing an unidentified parts supplier and sources familiar with the matter.

Specifications are still being finalised, but the devices are likely to sport curved OLED (organic light-emitting diode) displays and sensors that collect health data from blood glucose and calorie consumption to sleep activity, the Japanese news service cited industry sources as saying.

Though the details of services have yet to be released, specs for the new product are being finalised, according to industry sources. It will likely use a curved organic light-emitting diode (OLED) touchscreen and collect health-related data, such as calorie consumption, sleep activity, blood glucose and blood oxygen levels. It will also allow users to read messages sent by smartphones.

Apple appears confident of the new product. According to a parts manufacturer, it plans monthly commercial output of about 3-5 million units, which exceeds the total global sales of watch-like devices last year. This confidence is backed by its partnerships with high-profile hospitals - it has teamed up with the Mayo Clinic and the Cleveland Clinic, U.S. health institutes based in Minnesota and Ohio, respectively, to develop specific ways of analysing the collected data and applying it to actual health management

The industry has long expected Apple to unveil some sort of smartwatch, following the release ofSamsung Electronics' Galaxy Gear watches.

Apple iOS 8 features.Had to Believe but true

 Apple took the wraps off iOS 8 at the WWDC 2014 conference in San Francisco. The new operating system introduces a host of new features and looks a more polished version compared to iOS 7. The update will arrive in fall this year; in the meantime let’s take a look at all the features introduced on the OS update.

QUICKTYPE KEYBOARD

Apple’s default keyboard has been given a host of new features, chief among which is predictive texting. The keyboard will now suggest you words while you type to enhance your typing experience. It also takes into consideration the context of what you are typing while suggesting words — so for example if you start typing about a meeting in a formal way, the words suggested will be formal in nature too.

EXTENSIBILITY

This too is a big feature announced on iOS 8. iOS has traditionally been a very closed operating system, but with the latest update Apple is letting some of the shackles fall off. Developers will now get access to a few core system apps and modify/add new features to them.

So developers will be able to integrate third-party photo editing apps with the Photos app. If you want to edit a photo on VSCO Cam, you can fire up the app’s interface in iOS’s photo app itself.

Apple has also opened its camera to third-party apps to developers and with the latest camera API, developers will be able to get deeper control of the camera. In other words, you will be able to download camera apps that will offer manual control of exposure, white balance and more.

Much to the delight of many, Apple has also announced support for third-party keyboards. So pretty soon you will be able to download and use keyboards like Swype on iOS 8.

MESSAGING

Apple’s iMessage has got quite a few tweaks that bring it on par with other popular messaging apps like WhatsApp among others. Speaking of which, Apple seems to have borrowed the messaging service’s tap to talk feature. You will now be able press and hold the mic above the keyboard to record and send short voice messages. You can also record and send short video messages by clicking on the camera button on the left.

As far as group messaging is concerned, in addition to adding and removing contacts you can also select the do not disturb feature. You will also be able to share multiple photos and videos at once. iMessage now also allows you to share your location via the message should you want it.

CONTINUITY

This is the same feature that was discussed at length on OS X 10.10 Yosemite. Continuity essentially lets you smoothly switch between Macs and iOS devices. So if you start composing an email on your iPhone, you will be able to finish the email on your Mac in just a click. A part of this feature is Handoff, wherein you will be able send a document from your Mac to your iOS device, just by being in close proximity to each other. This feature also works in reverse.

INTERACTIVE NOTIFICATIONS

Notifications on iOS 8 have been made more interactive this time around. So when you get a message on your phone, you can swipe down wherever you are to immediately reply to the message. You can similarly interact with social notifications too.

TOUCHID IMPROVEMENTS

Apple announced that the TouchID fingerprint scanner it introduced on the iPhone 5S will be available to developers, who will be able to integrate the functionality in their existing and future iOS 8 apps. The TouchID will protect logins and user data, and help users unlock Keychain items, while fingerprint-related data will also be protected.

MORE MULTITASKING

On iOS 7 when you press the home button twice it opened a multitasking window that showed all the apps running in the background. Apple has added more functionality to its multitasking window by adding one’s frequent contacts. These contacts will be seen as icons on top of the app windows and clicking on them will open up options to call, message and FaceTime with them.

FAMILY SHARING

Apple is bringing families closer by letting them share their purchases and photos easily with each other. Up to six members of a family can connect with each other using their Apple ID and the feature will create shared photo albums, shared calendars and also an option to share the family member’s location.

For parents, there is an option to create an Apple ID for their children and keep a tab on it with the ‘Ask to Buy’ feature. So essentially, when a kid wants to download an app, his/her parent will first have to give permission for the transaction.

IMPROVED MAIL

Apple’s email app too has been improved with quite a few new features. It now boasts swipe features, so for example when composing an email, you can swipe the compose window down to refer to other emails. When you have the information you were looking for, you can simply click on the bar at the bottom of the screen to bring the compose window back up.

SIRI

Apple has also improved Siri by adding new functionalities and making it easier to access the digital assistant. Now instead of long pressing the home button, you can simply say “Hey Siri” to fire up the digital assistant. Its new features include Shazam song recognition, 22 new diction languages, it can purchase iTunes content as well as streaming voice recognition.

PHOTOS APP

The photos app has been improved and is better synced with iCloud so the photos and videos can be accessed from any device. Apple has also improved its in-built editing capabilities with new tools like automatic straightening of horizons, adjust light and colors, and automatic fine tuning among others.

HEALTH APP

We have known for some time now that Apple was planning on entering the health and fitness monitoring industry. Right on cue, Apple today announced the Health app and the HealthKit API for developers. The app essentially gathers health-related data from various third-party health and fitness apps and stores them at one place so you can view them at one convenient place.

In addition to all the above mentioned features, Apple has also improved on some of the visuals to make the OS look more polished, improved privacy and security for Enterprise users, improved Spotlight functionalities that include line results from Wikipedia and music on iTunes.

iOS 8 will be available for developers from today onwards and will be widely released for others in fall this year. iOS 8 will be compatible with devices including iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, iPod touch 5th generation, iPad 2, iPad with Retina display, iPad Air, iPad mini and iPad mini with Retina display.

Apple iPhone 5C 8GB launched in India for Rs 37,500

As expected, Apple has launched the iPhone 5C 8GB in India for Rs 37,500.Already had earlier reported about Apple’s plans to launch the iPhone 5C 8GB in India and had reported about stocks being shipped into India earlier this week.

 Apple might also offer an inaugural discount of Rs 3,000 and throw in a case worth Rs 2,300 for a limited period. 

The pricing isn’t very exciting at the moment as one can buy the iPhone 5C 16GB for Rs 34,400 with a buyback scheme worth Rs 7,500. The official price of the iPhone 5C 16GB is Rs 41,900.

We expect Apple to become more aggressive with the iPhone 5C 8GB pricing. Hopefully, the company would launch a similar buyback scheme, which would bring its price down to Rs 30,000.

iPhone 6 Set to Launch on September 19

Apple's next iPhone, thought to be called the iPhone 6, is now being said to hit the shelves on September 19. 

The news coming from a German website (via Apple Insider) that claims local carrier Deutsche Telekom is telling its customer representatives the iPhone 6 has a September 19 launch date, in order to make its customers stick with the wireless provider.

However, noting that Germany is usually one of the first one of the first few regions to receive the latest Apple devices, we might be seeing the actual launch date. Moreover, it has been understood that September 19 falls on a Friday, the day on which Apple has been introducing its iPhone since 2011.

The Cupertino firm made its iPhone 4 available on October 14, 2011, followed by iPhone 5 on September 21 and iPhone 5s and 5c on September 20 last year, all of which have been on Fridays.

However, Apple has not announced the official launch date of its hotly anticipated next iPhone yet, and usually doesn't inform carriers this much in advance, leaving us to take the expected date with a pinch of salt.

The iPhone 6 has been for a while expected to come in two screen size variants, specifically with 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch displays. While we have seen numerous leaks on these alleged two iPhone 6 variants, a fresh report from Digitimes states that Foxconn, Apple's biggest mobile device manufacturer, would be making both the iPhone 6 models.

It has been understood that Pegatron will be shipping 30 percent of the total number of 4.7-inch iPhone 6 devices while the current iPhone model orders with 4-inch screen would be outsourced to Winston. Foxconn would be manufacturing the remaining 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 variants, and is said to start supplying the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models in July and August respectively.

The image from nowwhere else , a French website , shows the rumoured iPhone 6 smartphones battery design , indicating a larger handset with a big screen in the Cupertino firm's pipeline. Adding to this phonearena mentions that the iphone 6's production trail will start in the month of May and will include a battery with no more than 2000mAh capacity. It has been also mention that the charging pins have been redesigned.

The elongated battery hinting at a larger screen in the iphone 6 in line with the previous reports and leaks for Apple's next-generation iphone. The images that leaked couple of days ago show the handset's alleged mould along with its purported front panel 

If the numerous recent leaks and rumours are correct, then the iphone 6 would be surpass the existing Apple iphone 5's screen size of 4-inches, and will arive into two screen size 5.5-inch and 4.7-inch.

While the high end 5.5-inch iphone model was previously reported to boast of higher screen resoultion at 1080 by 1920 pixels (full HD) with a pixel density of 401 ppi, the 4.7-inch model is said to pack a lower resoultion screen at 750 by 1334 pixels and might offer a pixel density of 326 ppi.

However all these leaks should be taken with a pinch of salt as Apple has not mentioned anything about the upcoming device, and the image's legitimacy remain questionable.

iPhone 6 to launch in two screen sizes in September

Apple is likely to release its newest iPhone globally in September with a higher resolution and bigger screens, Japan's leading Nikkei business daily reported Friday. The handset, expected to be called the iPhone 6 , is expected to come in two versions with a 4.7- or 5.5-inch screen, up from the current four-inch panel, the report said, without citing sources.

US-based Apple is ordering its higher- resolution liquid crystal display screens from Japanese electronics giant sharp, Japan Display and South Korea's LG Display, it added. Taiwan's Commercial Times reported earlier this month that Taiwan Semi conductor Manufacturing Co. has started producing chips for Apple's next iPhone.

Apple released its current iPhone 5 in September 2012 and newer versions in the series last year. There was no immediate comment from sharp.

Previous leaks have said the iPhone 6 will arrive with a much thinner body, a powerful processor and a higher pixel density screen. As for the processor, both Samsung and TSMC   are rumoured to be making the new A-series 'Apple A8' chips for the iPhone 6, separately rumoured to be clocked at 2.6 GHz.

The iPhone 6 is also speculated to ship with an ultra-retina display, with a pixel density of 389ppi. This round of rumoured features came courtesy Sonny Dickson, the Australian teen who rose to fame in the build up to the release of iPhone 5s with what turned out to be largely accurate leaks.

Dickson, in one of his four tweets on the subjects, also said, "iPhone 6 will be 0.22 inches thick. Other expected features include a bezel-less display, and a larger 8-megapixel camera with aperature size of f/2.0, as compared to the iPhone 5's f/2.4 and iPhone 5's f/2.2.

WhatsApp app for Blackberry 10 updated privacy options, Dark Theme and more

BlackBerry 10 users have joined the new updated WhatsApp app bandwagon after Android and ios. BB10 users, along with the new privacy-enhanced WhatsApp features, will additionally receive the WhatsApp 'Dark Theme' with the updated app, which has begun rolling out .

The Blackberry 10-exclusive WhatsApp Dark Theme' essentially gives a new look to the application and makes it appear darker by using black backgrounds as compared to the bright white counterpart sported by Android and ios users.

It has been noted that the 'Dark Theme is only available for those handsets that run on the Blackberry 10.2.1 OS version only .

Bas Bosschert, the chief technology officer of Double Think, stated, "The WhatsApp database is saved on the SD card which can be read by any Android application if the users allow it to access the SD card. And since majority of the people allows everything on their Android devices, this is not much of a problem." 

"So, we can conclude that every application can read the WhatsApp database and it is also possible to read the charts from the encrypted database. Facebook didn't neeed to buy WhatsApp to read your chats," he added.

WhatsApp has since responded to the reports of the Android security flaw, saying they were 'overstated', and did not paint an 'accurate picture'.

WhatsApp to add voice calling later this year : CEO

WhatsApp, the popular messaging service for smartphones acquired this week by Facebook, will soon be offering a voice service.

CEO Jan Koum said the voice service will be developed by Android and iPhones this spring, with Blackberry and Microsoft and Nokia Phones coming later.

"We are going to introduce voice in WhatsApp in the second quarter of this year," Koum said at the Mobile World Congress in the Barcelona, Spain. "I think we have the best voice product out there. We use the least amount of bandwidth."

WhatsApp currently has voice function but only in note. This new service will be live.

On Wednesday, Facebook acquired WhatsApp for 1.9$ billion in a deal that is by far the biggest by the social networking company and any other done by Google, Microsoft or Apple.

Wearing a gray shirt, jeans and a black jacket, the 38-year-old koum quipped- "last week we added a new Facebook friend. I don't know if you guys heard."

The Blockbuster deal made serious waves with those in the telecommunications industry who gathered this week in the Catalan city, but also sparked concern among users that Facebook would introduce advertising to WhatsApp.

Koum insisted that there are no designs to add "marketing" to the messaging service.
" said koum. "Our vision and mission are aligned. We both want to make the world more connected."

Facebook is paying $12 billion in stock and $ 4 billion in cash for WhatsApp. koum along with fellow founder Brian Acton their 55 employees were also granted restricted stock worth $3 billion that will vest over four years after the deal closes.

Koum said that he didn't expect that WhatsApp's staff would grow in number very much, saying that "we want to operate as a startup."

WhatsApp has 465 million monthly users and 330 daily users, according to koum, and costs users $1 a year after a first free year.

Apple considering inductive, motion and solar charging for iWatch

It has been previously seen only with hand sets like Google Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and some of the Nokia Lumia models. However, the introduction of wireless charging to wearable devices might be something new which other competitors like Sony SmartWatch 2 and Samsung Galaxy Gear is yet to come up.

Another quoted patent filed by Apple back in September 2009, titled "shake to charge" technology - similar is seen in numerous wristwatches.

The patient summary elaborates: "For example, a system can include one or more magnets that are operative to move alongside a circuit board that include printed coils. The one or more magnets may move, for example, when a user shakes the system or when the user walks or runs while holding the device. The movement of the one or more magnets may create an electromotive force across the printed coils, and this force may be used to generate electric power."

NYT also quoted sources close to the iWatch development efforts about other ideas for wireless charging, which may take longer to implement however. The curved glass display of the iWatch may be able to incorporate a solar-charging layer. Recent solar charging patents make this seem a little more likely to occur in this iteration.

In the related news, it was recently reported that LG has landed a deal with Apple to make the iWatch wearable device. Previous rumours indicated that LG would be manufacturing the display panels for iWatch. The latest Korean reports claim the tech form won the rights to be the sole manufacturer for the smartwatch's hardware, and is set to procedure the first initial 2 million units of iWatch.

Apple reportedly working on two larger iPhones for 2014

According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple are in the process of developing a pair of new iPhones with larger displays. The report suggests that the new iPhones (possibly named the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6Z) will feature a 4.5-inch display and one over 5-inches.

Both devices will be made out of metal, but will not featured a curved display as many rumours have pointed to. It is said that the smaller of the two devices is nearing mass production stage whilst the larger iPhone is still in preliminary development, so it's unlikely we'd see both released at the same time.

Despite introducing a plastic design with the iPhone 5C earlier last year, Apple is said to be doing away with the plastic all together and instead favouring a metal design for both iPhones. It seems odd that Apple would do away with a design so quickly after introducing it, but it may be down to lacking sales that they have chosen to prefer the more premium material.

It appears that Apple is finally looking to take on the larger sized Android devices that have found so much success in the market. Apple fans have longed for a bigger display that what the current iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, and iPhone 5C offer, and perhaps the iPhone 6 is exactly what they're looking for.

12-inch iPad and Samsung Galaxy S5 rumors

2014 is going to be a big year for mobile devices as the battle between the big three tech giants heats up and two of the big three are already gearing up their products for 2014; at least the rumors say so.

According to reports, Apple is is planning to revolutionize (rather kill) the Notebook PC market by releasing a 12-inch iPad. An analyst at  Evercore Partners predicts that the company will be releasing a tablet focused on the business market by fall this year.  Analyst Patrick Wang predicts that the new 12-inch iPad  will be powered by an A8 processor and that it will be similar to the Surface tablets that Microsoft has in the market. The analyst states that manufacturing costs are the primary reasons that Apple would consider such a tablet which would over time take over the Macbook Air.

Apple's main competitor Samsung on the other hand is getting ready with it's successor to the Galaxy S4; the Galaxy S5. The device is rumored to be released along with the Galaxy Camera 2 in February in Barcelona, at the World Mobile Congress.

Rumors are ripe that the company could finally be moving away from a plastic body to a more polished aluminium case all thanks to the success of the HTC One.  Another phone which is expected to come out at the event is Samsung Galaxy F which will sport a  QHD 2K display which supports an amazing resolution of 2,560×1,600 pixels.  The new Galaxy S5 could also sport a different OS namely the Tizen OS which was doing rounds a while back  but it remains to be seen whether the company would risk introducing a new OS when it's flagship device is doing so well running the Android.

Foursquare for ios update brings fresh new interface, location-based push notifications.

Location-based check-in app, Foursquare has overhauled its ios app, redesigning it completely for ios 7 with version 7.0 

Foursquare app was earlier updatesd for ios 7 with just minor UI tweaks, but the new update brings a more streamlined interface with check-in offers updates looking more like a feed , and a new 'What's nearby' deck at the top that offers tips and updates related to places in the vicinity , randomly. The deck is swipable and offers tips, and money-saving specials near you.

The updated Foursquare app is also location aware, and sends push notifications featuring tips and suggestions even if the user doesn't open the app. For instance, when you arrive at a restaurent, you might get notifications related to tips and recomended fishes. If you check-in locality , you might get a list of places in the vicinity that are worth checking out.

The update Foursquare app's UI looks visually applealing, with round profile avatars line with the ios 7 design.  The app also  supports the swipe left to go back gesture introduced with the ios 7 . The check-in box now features subtle icons for adding friends, pictures and social networking sharing.

According to a Techcrunch report, the app doesn't make use of ios 7's back grounding APIs to save battery , but Foursquare has apparently been working on these days for years to optimise battery juice.

Foursquare had started rolling out push notifications to select Android users, starting August. The company had experimented with the feature on ios in 2011, calling it ' Radar ' but didn't  work out as the geofencing feature sucked up battery juice .

iPad Air , iPad mini with Retina display to be available in India starting December 7

iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display will be available in India starting December 7, Apple's authorised distribution partener Ingram Micro has announced via a press release .

The distributor also confirmed that 16GB WiFi iPad Air and  iPad mini with Retina display will be available for Rs.35,900 and Rs.28,900 respectively . These prices are in line with what we had exclusively revealed around 3 weeks back.

According to the information we received earlier , but not announced by the distributor yet, the 32 GB , 64GB and 128GB iPad Air WiFi only models will be priced at Rs.42,900 , Rs.49,900 and Rs.56,900 respectively . The 16GB iPad Air with cellular connectivity will be priced at Rs.44,900. The 32GB , 64GB and 128GB models will be priced at Rs.51,900 , Rs.58,900 and Rs.65,900 respectively . 

Similarly , the 32GB ,64GB and 128GB iPad mini with Retina display WiFi only models will be priced at Rs.35,900 ,Rs.42,900 and Rs.49,900 respectively . The 16GB iPad mini with Retina display and cellular connectivity will be priced at Rs.37,900. The 32GB , 64GB and 128GB models will be priced at Rs.44,900 , Rs.51,900 and Rs.58,900 .

As we mentioned in our earlier report , Apple will continue to sell the 16GB iPad mini without Retina display for Rs.21,900 for the WiFi version . However , the cellular models is expected to get a price bump from Rs.29,900 to 30,900. The iPad 16GB iPad 2 will continue to sell for Rs.28,900 and Rs.37,900 for the WiFi and cellular models respectively .
