According to Phonearena, a document revealead that Microsoft was planning to discard the Nokia brand name from its smartphones 18months after the transaction has been closed.

It has been further mentioned that both Nokia X and Nokia Asha devices might lose their brand names after December 31 , 2015, and after 10 years, respectively.

Microsoft Mobiles last week launched the Nokia X2 handset, the successor to its popular Nokia X Android-based smartphone. Besides, Nokia Lumia 1520 has Windows Phone 8 operating system, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, NFC, and a USB 2.0 slot. The nano SIM bearing phablet weighs 209 grams. The Nokia Lumia 1520 will be available in yellow, white, black and glossy red. We had the opportunity to spend a few minutes with the slate, and we came away rather impressed with the hardware. The device is supposed to launch before the end of the year for $499, and overall it looks and feels incredibly solid, if not a bit predictable: its unibody polycarbonate design and sleek curves scream to the world that it's very much a Lumia device, regardless of its screen size.

With a 10.1-inch full HD display and 650 nit brightness, the display looks good and offers great viewing angles. Nokia's selling point on this panel, however, is its five percent reflectance -- in English, this means the 2520 should be clearly visible both indoors and out. While we haven't been able to take the tablet outside, we certainly were happy enough with the screen quality during our hands-on time. There's a 2MP front-facing cam for video chatting, as well as a 6.7MP f/1.9 camera on the back (it uses the same module as the Lumia 720). You'll also get LTE connectivity, a micro-USB 3.0 connector for data transfers and an 8,000mAh battery with Qualcomm QuickCharge tech (which unfortunately requires the use of a proprietary plug).

Also, whereas the W3 had 2-megapixel cameras on both the front and the rear, the W4 rocks a 5MP main shooter (the front webcam is still 2MP). Rounding out the list, the W4 keeps the same basic ports as the W3 -- namely, micro-USB, micro-HDMI and a microSD slot. And, as before, you can use it with an optional keyboard. Look for it this month, starting at $330 with 32GB of built-in storage and $380 for the 64GB model.


The company also bundles a keyboard with the Iconia W4 tablet that features leather cover that folds outs while also serving as a tablet stand.

NOKIA upcoming tablet dubbed "Lumia 2520.".

Here's another leak on mobile giant Nokia's forthcoming event scheduled for October 22 in Abu Dhabi. EvLeaks has posted what it claims is the first press shot of Nokia's upcoming tablet dubbed "Lumia 2520."

No specifications or launch date of the device have been disclosed with the image. The tablet will be Nokia's first Windows RT 8.1 tablet.The rumoured specs of the 10.1-inch tablet are: Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC, 10.1-inch 1080p IPS display and 6.7 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics. The tablet will reportedly have more than one version including one with LTE support.

There are also speculations that the tablet may feature some exclusive software from Nokia, including 'StoryTeller'.Nokia 5250 tablet is expected to come in four colors -- black, white, red and cyan.

Earlier this week, Nokia's official "Conversations" blog posted a teaser image for the Nokia World event showing a smartphone, tablet and notebook.

Interestingly, Apple is expected to launch iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 at an event on the same day. According to website AllThingsD, Apple will host a media event on 22 October, where it will announce updates to both iPad models.

On Monday, the company announced its next generation in tablet computing: the Surface 2, a slimmed-down, silver-laden model that's available for preorder starting Sept. 24 and ships Oct. 22.

Considering gifting this Windows RT gadget or getting one for yourself? You'll have to decide between the original Surface with a freshly reduced price ($349, originally $499 at launch) and the Surface 2 with slightly upgraded hardware but major Skype and SkyDrive perks. The two models' tech specs go head-to-head below.

The Surface 2 is only a bit thinner (by 0.05 inches) and lighter (by 0.1 pounds). Major improvements were made to the display, which has more pixels per inch, the camera (previously referred to as "720p" quality only) for HD Skyping, the battery life, and the processor. The tablet has also shed its dark exterior for lighter silver hardware, and its kickstand now conveniently has two different viewing angles as opposed to one.

The bonus extras may, however, outweigh the superficial improvements. With the purchase of a Surface 2, users will receive 200GB of Sky Drive for two years (about a $100 value) and one year of unlimited voice calling to landlines in over 60 countries, plus free Skype WiFi at two million hot spots around the world.

New accessories will accompany the next-generation tablet as well. There's a new Power Cover ($200) with a keyboard, plus extra battery life built in, due for an early 2014 release. The Type Cover ($130), available for preorder on Sept. 24, also got an upgrade, with a thinner, lighter board and backlit keys. The Touch Cover 2 ($119) with soft keys is more rigid and, like Type Cover 2, is now thinner, lighter (2.75 mm thin), and backlit.
