Samsung to move on with 12inch tablets

Samsung is developing tablets that will have a display size larger than 12-inches. Digitimes claims the upstream supply chain believes manufacturers like Samsung and is trying to create a new market segment to sway consumers away from smaller-sized devices. If the news had come from the site alone, we could have taken this with a pinch of salt but the rumours about a 12-inch+ tablet has circulated for a while. Most recently, Twitter user @evleaks had tweeted about Samsung tablets with one tablet having a 12.2-inch display. The tablet according to him is identified as SM-P900 and will have a 2560×1600 resolution and Exynos 5 Octa processor. The reason Samsung is trying to go for a larger-sized tablet is due to the smartphones encroaching the tablet territory. The largest smartphone available from Samsung is Galaxy Mega 6.3 (although many Samsung tablets have voice calling feature) and given how these smartphones match or in some cases offer superior performance to tablets, consumers tend to prefer smartphones. The answer to this rumour most likely lies at the IFA next month where Samsung is expected to announce new products, including the Galaxy Note III.
