Those of you who are into rooting and modding would smile condescendingly at this particular nugget of info, but Samsung is keeping on its promise to bring the latest Android 4.3 to the flagship Galaxy S4 by the end of October.
We already reported on leaked firmware a few days ago, and the most impatient among you have probably installed it as a daily driver, as it was almost street-ready, but this here is the official stuff now.
The update has started rolling out in Germany, and will gradually get to other countries until every last Galaxy S4 gets the sweet new stuff by year-end, including the US carrier models. Here's what new features it will bring to your trusted flagship:
- OpenGL 3.0 Support
- GALAXY GEAR Support
- TRIM Support (Makes the device much faster)
- ANT+ Support
- Samsung KNOX Implementation (KNOX bootloader and dedicated application)
- Samsung Wallet comes pre-loaded
- Improved RAM management
- Improved Display colour reproduction (Display looks much sharper than before)
- Improved TouchWiz Launcher (Much less launcher redraws and less lag)
- New Samsung Keyboard
- New Samsung Browser (Full screen by default, new tab interface and more)
- New Reading Mode (Optimises display for reading, used by only a few specific applications)
- New Camera firmware
- Minor UI tweaks (Contacts app, Flashlight Widget, dialog boxes etc)
