Samsung may update Galaxy S4, Note 3 to Kitkat by late January

French carrier SFR, who previously leaked the news of Android 4.3 updates for Samsung's 2013 flagship devices, is at it again. SFR france had posted that it will release the Android 4.4 update for Galaxy S4 and Note 3 devices to its subscribers by the end of January next year.

Samsung had just updated the aformentioned devices to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean , So the time frame seems about right for the next round of updates. There is no official word from the Samsung about the release schedule of the Kitkat update. Infact we are not sure even which devices would be eligible for the update, as Samsung is reportedly considering the chocolate flavoured version of the Google's mobile OS to its mid-range stable of devices as well.

Android 4.4 Kitkat features a number of under the hood improvements, along with a significant number of interface changes as well, where a lot of elements have been flattened and simplified. Kitkat includes 'Project Svelte' which further enhances and smoothens various animations, that were earlier improved under Jelly Bean's 'Project Butter' . An immense mode is present which enables certain applications to run in full screen mode. The dialer has been improved and now factors Google's search algorithms to act as your personal yellow pages, providing you with contact information about local businesses with the dialer itself.

It would be interesting to note Samsung's approach to the update because its Touchwiz UI offers a stark contrast to Google's vision of simplistic UI and flattened interfaces.
