HP’s Chromebook 11, the one that was pulled recently following safety concerns with the device’s charger, now has an LTE-enabled brother. Best Buy started selling the device on its site on Wednesday, despite nary a word from Google or HP that an updated model had launched. The LTE model will set you back a bit more than the standard Chromebook 11 — $379 as opposed to $279 — but that’s still a rather budget-friendly price tag.
The Chromebook 11 with LTE runs on Verizon’s network, so you’ll need to sign on for some sort of plan with Verizon in order to take advantage of being connected wherever you go. There’s no word on whether additional models for other U.S. wireless networks will launch, though we’re guessing this is going to be the only option.
As a quick refresher, the Chromebook 11 sports a 11.6-inch display with a 1366 x 768-pixel resolution, a Samsung Exynos 5 mobile processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. Chromebook’s aren’t built for power-hungry users, but if you’re on the road a lot and need quick access to your web browser and Google’s services, this should be a good option.
